Burningkit rolled around the camp in a tussle with a leaf. It ripped quickly, leaving the kitten bored. He sat up, his pelt a mess, and began passing a rock from one paw to the other.
At the sound of nearby pawsteps, Burningkit looked up, his ears perked and his eyes darting around. "Hello?" Burningkit squeaked. It's sunhigh, didn't patrols just get sent out?

Hawknight had padded into camp easily, cobweb clenched between her teeth on her way to the Medicine Cat's den. She'd found quite a bit of cobweb and was rather pleased with the amount. It would be useful, but hopefully it wouldn't have to be anytime soon. She didn't need to have her clan run stupidly into another battle with ThunderClan.
Hearing the squeak of hello, Hawknight stopped, quickly looking around. She had been glad for the absence of cast, but, she couldn't be that lucky, apparently. Usually cats avoided her, and she liked it that way. Spotting a kit, she almost sighed. "Hello." She said, the words hardly making it through the bundle of cobwebs as she passed him on the way to her den.

The previous medicine cat's died since then.. I assume this was their apprentice? Burningkit asked in his mind, his tail almost lashing before he caught it. He held back a snarl and followed Hawknight cheerfully in a cutesy trot. "Hi!" Burningkit mewed, looking up at Hawknight with wide, yellow eyes.
"Wanna play a game?" Burningkit tended to be cute and sweet at first, then he grew horrible. He especially hated medicine cats for he blamed the previous on 'not trying' to save his mother from death.
(Sorry short, gotta go for a minute)

Hawknight held back a sigh of annoyance. She didn't much enjoy kits. She didn't hate them, she just avoided them. Usually, their mothers weren't happy to see their kits hanging around with a murderer. "No, I wouldn't like to play a game." Unlike most cats, Hawknight just could say it out straight. Being the medicine cat was a full-time job. You didn't stop to smell the roses.
Reaching her target of her den, she shoved the cobweb with the pre-gathered cobweb and turned to see if the kit was still following her.

"Awww, really?" Burningkit whined sadly. "Why's that?" He pounced on the cobweb, "Oops, sorry!" The kit squeaked, pretending to be innocent. "I thought I saw a bug.." Burningkit smirked, his claws sinking into the cobweb. The kit slowly pulled his left front paw back, ripping the cobwebs. He stopped a moment later, turned, and pounced, trying to land on Hawknight's tail.
"Are you a sour cat?"

Hawknight really did sigh this time. "If you truly wish to watch your clan mates bleed to death because they charged into a stupid battle with me telling them I don't have enough cobwebs to stop bleeding wounds, please continue doing that." Hawknight meowed, jerking her tail away. "And I don't want to play a game because I have to go gather more cobweb." She meowed. then, she added for effect, "Playing in the Medicine's Cat's den can get you killed, and if it doesn't, it will at least have you stuck in the nursery for your seventh moon."
Bending down, Hawknight surveyed the damage to the rather important sticky web that had been torn. Carefully, she pulled away over half the store, leaving some of the not destroyed cobweb there. Pressing the shredded cobweb together, she tucked it next to the unharmed cobweb. It wouldn't do as good, but, there was no such thing as too much herbs. It wouldn't stop as much bleeding and wouldn't soak it up as well, but, she had needed cobweb, and this was pretty much half her store. She ignored his last question, and turned her sharp blue eyes on him. Hawknight was not a cat to let things slide he was old enough to know better.

"Oh, be quiet, medicine cat!" Burningkit snarled. "Medicine cats are so useless! Your mentor's the reason my mother is dead, ya know!" The kit's pelt fluffed up and he arched his back, claws unsheathing. "Medicine cats don't do anything! It looks like they're helping but they're not! It's only a reassuring thing, you mouse-brain! Cats think the medicine cat will always save them but it's not true! They never save any cat!"
Burningkit watched as Hawknight put the cobwebs together again, growling at her. His tail lashed and he sat down, glaring at the medicine cat. Burningkit wanted to stomp in there and tear every leaf and bit of cobweb he could find, but he knew his limits. This cat would probably have his pelt if he did anything of the like. Besides, he'd already shown that he wasn't really an innocent kit. He'd gotten rid of the act that he shows every cat in the beginning. It was useless- Burningkit could think of no more excuses to help him out.

Hawknight was not an angry cat. She was harsh, unfriendly. But, not angry. She was angry now. "Listen here, right now. I don't spend my time gathering herbs, sitting around sick cats, and spending hours organizing things for reassurance. And I don't pretend that I can save every cat." Hawknight said, her control dissolving only slightly enough to tower over the kit menacingly. "I don't really care what you say about me, but if you ever insult Fallenleaf again, I will personally see to it that you're held back at least a moon from your apprenticeship for insulting a StarClan cat. Medicine Cat's may not save every cat, but, without us, your mother would have went off to curl up in a hole and die. If StarClan freed her from this world it is not your place to blame other cats without doubting StarClan and therefore doubting the very existence of the clans and the warrior code."
Hawknight, despite everything, had decided against telling Miststar, but if that kit put one hair out of place in her den again, she would make sure of it.

Burningkit spit, becoming fiercely angry. "Why'd they have to take her from me!? I never met my father and I don't have any littermates! I don't have any cat! Not only that, but every cat in this dumb Clan pities me every second and acts like I'm the sweetest kit ever born! It's stupid how gullible and mouse-brained they all are!" He was tempted to slash at Hawknight but forced his paw to stay still. Attacking the medicine cat would get me in more trouble than I could imagine. "I'm not insulting her as a StarClan cat- I'm insulting her as a medicine cat. And... And that's like all she had left.. She did curl up and die in a hole, pretty much! She died in a mossy nest, but she was curled up and she was suffering because of dumb greencough! Freed her from this world? I guess that kinda makes sense but Brightdaisy was so happy and kind.. I hated seeing her suffer but not having her here ever again is just as bad!"

Hawknight shook her head, her anger evaporating. She'd never been glad to be a medicine cat, but in many ways, she would much rather be a medicine cat then a warrior. Burningkit saw his mother as gone, and that's how he thought of it. And, despite a lot, Hawknight would never grieve like that. She never saw her mentor as gone. She never saw any cat as gone. They were all so close to the young medicine cat, and she saw them often enough, when she slept. They were still real, still there. To Hawknight, it seemed as though every at she ever cared about was always right there, standing by her. After she'd become a medicine cat apprentice, even after her mentor died, she'd never felt alone.
"The chance of her surviving greencough was low. Actually, only the sparse lucky few have greencough and live through it. The best hope is not to catch it and if they do, there really isn't much chance. " Hawknight meowed, matter-of-factually. "Brightdaisy's not gone, I swear to you this. You'll see her again. Maybe not in this world. but you will see her again."

"But.. It's going to be such a long time until I join StarClan and see her again.." Burningkit mewed hopelessly, his eyes beginning to water slightly. "Besides, I thought that's what Fallenleaf said kinda. She 'promised' me that Brightdaisy would survive but she didn't!" Burningkit didn't even know if he was lying about that comment or not. He couldn't quite remember if the previous medicine cat had given him those words or not.
"I'm still bored.. No cat ever wants to play with the kits in this Clan!" Burningkit meowed, his tail tip flicking in discontent. "It's so boorrriiiinnnggg and I can't wait until I'm an apprentice so I'll have something to do!"

Skypaw had watched her clanmates' interactions with wide blue eyes, having no idea what to do. Should she step in or be quiet? Did Hawknight need her to get more cobwebs? What about poor Burningkit, would he appreciate her comfort? Finally, the ginger she-cat skittishly slunk forward at Burningkit's words. "I-I can play with you Burningkit..." she mewed nervously and quietly, glancing at Hawknight in hopes that she was helping the medicine cat so that she could continue on with her duties without the kit's interruptions. "I already hunted and cleaned the dens, so I'm done with my duties for the day..."

Nodding to Skypaw, glad that she could finally get back to her endless work, Hawknight padded back inside her den and began shoving herbs that had been scattered back into their rightful place. She could gather cobweb later. She needed to get things off of the checklist she'd made so that she would be ready if something happened. Like a mouse-brained battle that ShadowClan probably wouldn't win. No one bothers to think of the medicine cat when they go charging into a battle like idiots. [You guys can continue without me if this become a thread where Hawknight isn't needed.]

(There could be an injury or something and Hawknight's needed, if that's okay with everyone? =^_^=)
Burningkit shot one last glare at Hawknight, holding a growl. He couldn't growl when a she-cat he didn't really know offered to play a game with him. The ginger tabby flicked his tail before gazing over at Skypaw, his face giving off a cutesy, innocent aura once again. "Really?" Burningkit squeaked, trotting to Skypaw, "Thanks so much! That's so nice of you! What should we play? I like 'fight' best!" His eyes sparked with mischief and energy.

((Yeah, fine with me. Who should get hurt? ^^))
Skypaw blinked in surprise at the kit's sudden change of moods, but her heart melted at the cute look on his face. He was adorable. "No problem," she purred quietly with a wave of her tail. "Sure, we can play fight..." she mewed quietly, feeling just a bit uneasy though.
