Dapplestar's ear twitched as she heard her companion move away from her, but she continued on. A tweeting bird's call filled her ears rather sweetly, and she glided forward. She had just begun to silently make her way up the tree when Silverdapple's cry hit her ears. The bird fluttered away with a shrieked warning call, and she hit the ground running.
The young leader raced to the other warrior's side, relieved to see that she looked more winded than anything else. "Are you ok?" she asked, sniffing at her uselessly. "Perhaps late night hunting isn't such a good idea with some warriors asleep on their paws."

"Yes, I'm fine.. Sorry if I interrupted a catch." Silverdapple meowed, shaking her pelt. "I just didn't notice the gap between the trees' branches is all." She meowed, licking her paw in embarrassment. You mouse-brain! Pay more attention to where you're running next time! Silverdapple scolded herself. "Heh, yeah, maybe not.. I'll be sure to not get so absorbed next time." The she-cat scented the air and trotted toward the ThunderClan border in search of more prey.
After several minutes of searching, Silverdapple returned to her falling spot and sat down, "Couldn't find anything.." She mumbled, not knowing if Dapplestar was still there or not.

"Good idea," Dapplestar mewed, amusement in her eyes. She decided to wait until the warrior got back, just to make sure she was okay. "Tough luck," she murmured with a sigh. It would be a shame if they came back from their hunt without a single piece of prey. "We'll probably have to try another spot with all the noise we made," she mewed glancing around.

Silverdapple nodded in agreement. "We could try the bottom area of our territory." She suggested, flicking her tail in the direction that she meant. "It's up to you, though.. It seems like the prey we scared off went more toward ShadowClan's territory, I think." Silverdapple stretched her neck to try to see better in that direction but it was useless.

"Sounds good to me," Dapplestar mewed after a moment of bemused silence. "Just be careful of the border." With that, the tortoiseshell she-cat padded forward until the familiar sound of ruffled feathers filled her ears. With a nod to Silverdapple, she repeated what she had begun to do earlier, climbing the tree. When she finally made it above the thrush, she leaped down on top of it carefully and delivered a killing blow.

Silverdapple followed and stopped dead at the sound of the bird. She watched as the leader successfully caught the prey and gulped hungrily. The warrior flicked her tail to say 'good catch' then moved on a little bit and found her own.
A squirrel sat, munching on an acorn. New-leaf... Finally coming out of your nests for food, huh? Silverdapple silently asked, slipping forward. She gave a strong leap and her paws landed on the squirrel, snapping it's spine. The warrior quickly nipped the squirrel's neck and thanked StarClan for the prey. Silverdapple trotted back to where she last saw Dapplestar, her blue eyes bright.

Dapplestar nodded to her clanmate and carefully made her way down the tree with the thrush dangling limply from her jaws. She had barely made it to the ground when Silverdapple returned with a contribution of her own. "Nicely done. The clan will eat well this newleaf," she purred, eyes bright.

Silverdapple nodded and meowed in a quiet voice, "Definitely! It's always nice to see the fresh-kill pile filled~ Hopefully we'll see new kits this season as well." She purred. The thought of having kits made Silverdapple's mood brighten considerably. She wished to be a mother and wondered if this New-leaf would be the one where she'd have Oakstep- her mate-'s kits.

Dapplestar's whiskers twitched with amusement as she gave the other she-cat a playful nudge. "Perhaps they'll be your kits, eh?" she purred cheerfully, her good mood increased by the thought of new life being raised by strong, loyal warriors. Still, she felt a pang of loneliness in her chest. She had spent all her life working to be number one in her clan, and it was truly a lonely path she had chosen. She was friendly with all cats, but she had never been extremely close to one cat and certainly didn't have a tom to share her life with. There was no one to celebrate her triumphs or help her through her failures but herself.

Silverdapple let out a mrrow of laughter, "Possibly! I definitely want kits someday. So sweet and cute!" Although many she-cats thought the same way as Silverdapple, others knew what troublesome pests kits could be. Some cats thought those she-cats who adored kits to be crazy. It was really an on-going, mellow war.
So as to not drop her prey, Silverdapple had to hold back a yawn, which was pretty hard. She looked up to see the sky begin to lighten, "Should we get back to camp soon?"

"Sure. I think I need a nap, and we don't need our clanmates getting worried," she mewed. Bending over, she picked up her own catch in her jaws carefully before starting off towards camp. The early risers in the clan would appreciate their hard work.

Silverdapple nodded in agreement before padding tiredly to the warriors' den, stopping to drop her prey at the fresh-kill pile before continuing. Prey for the Clan is always good! She thought happily, tail going high in the air noticeably before Silverdapple disappeared into the warriors' den.

Dapplestar laid her thrush on the fresh-kill pile carefully before pausing to stretch. Then she made her way to her den to lay down and catch some rest.
