Burningkit strutted out of the nursery, ginger tabby head and tail held high in the air. The tom's yellow eyes showed a mixture of happiness and smugness. The knowledge that he could manipulate any cat in the Clan made Burningkit feel like the most powerful cat in the world. I wonder why no other cat has thought of this yet! Mouse-brains. This is simple and fun.. All of the cats will do whatever I want whenever I want. It's amazing! He thought, hiding a smirk.
Burningkit shook his pelt, knowing he needed to put on his cute, 'I'm a sweet kit' facade. The ginger tabby settled down a few tail-lengths away from the nursery, paws folded neatly under his chest, tail curled around his left flank. "Would any cat like to play a game with a bored kit?" Burningkit called out, trying to sound desperate and squeaky.

Frostpaw looked up from her mouse. "well, I don't know. What do you want to play?" She mewed, teasingly. Looking down she pretend to eat the mouse. She thought, He is so cute I should go play with him. But I might get in trouble for not guarding the boarders.
Dropping her mouse, she turned and padded to the camp entrance. "I think I will go outside now, if you follow me then you can see the forest." She teased, hoping that a cute kit would follow her. She glanced behind, hoping to see a little kit following her. She had a great Idea for a game.

Skypaw's ears pricked at she heard Burningkit's call. My best friend she thought proudly and happily. And her only friend, but she wasn't about to dwell on that. However, another she-cat answered first. She got up, intent on joining them despite her shyness when it came to meeting new cats. She got there just in time to hear her suggestion about leaving camp. "B-but kits aren't allowed to leave camp! And neither are we, alone!" she blurted out, alarmed, even as her ears burned with embarrassment.

Burningkit bolted up, following the apprentice closely. "Outside of camp sounds like a great idea!" He meowed, trying to speak in a low voice in the hope that no warrior would hear. Burningkit ran to Skypaw, stopped in front of her, and looked up at her. "But.. I never get out! I'm always stuck in camp.. Come on, Skypaw.. Please?" Burningkit's claws unsheathed and his eyes widened. It wasn't fake this time. No, it was real desperation. "Please, Skypaw! Best friends are supposed to be nice to each other, right?" The kit blinked several times. Let it work. Let it work. Guilt trips usually worked.. The kit thought. "Skypaw, what if something happened to me in camp and I died? I would never have gotten the chance to leave camp!"

"well yes, but do you see any warriors to stop us?" Frostpaw mewed at skypaw, "look do you want to come or not?" Frostpaw turned and walked out. With a shrug of her shoulder, she turned back, "Hey, I know the best spot for swimming. Come try it." Frostpaw slid into the shadows of the trees, her spots making it hard to see. Turning, she crept forward, trying to look like she did this all the time. Crack! A loud sound echoed thru the trees. Frostpaw jumped and ran into a bush. Peeking out, she looked for any warriors that she might have woken up. She breathed a sigh of relief, when no warrior yelled at her. Flicking her tail, she signaled the others to join her.

Skypaw's eyes widened as she listened to the kit's pleading. "O-ok..." she whispered, ears down, tail drooping. She stared at the ground guiltily. She didn't like this apprentice, not one bit. She obviously had no regard for rules and was acting like a mouse-brain! Teaching a kit swimming? What were they, RiverClan? And a kit? The only reason she was going was to make sure Burningkit didn't get hurt. She followed after the two quietly, trying to keep her red fur from bristling.

Frostpaw slid deeper into the forest, weaving around branches. She stopped, and turned looking at a bramble thicket about 20 tail lenghts away from the camp entrance. "In here, Frostpaw mewed, "You'll love it." She darted her right paw forward, and caught the brambles, they all pulled away reveling an opening. "Come on, this is the best spot for us 'paws' no one has ever found it, but it is close enough to the entrance that you can be back in a two shakes of a mouse tail."

Burningkit followed the two she-cats closely, "Swimming? What would I want to do that for? I just want to learn to fight..." He stopped talking for a moment then quickly added, "For my Clan." Burningkit couldn't let the apprentices know all he wanted to do when he was older was fight. Not necessarily for his Clan, but that's what he decided to tell. At the same time as it wasn't a lie, it was.

Skypaw gave Frostpaw a look, hoping this was safe for kits. The whole situation was making her nervous, but at the same time, she wanted so badly to be accepted, even by this she-cat. However, she was relived to find that Burningkit seemed to share her misgivings about the water. "You're going to be a great warrior, Burningkit," she purred, proud of her friend. She glanced at the water uncertainly. "Frostpaw, he's right. I've never been trained to swim. Most ShadowClan cats can't."

The moon rose over the horizon as, Frostpaw slipped into the hollow. Bramble walls surrounded the clearing, on one side was a small pond, on the other was a cave just big enough for three full grown cat to fit snugly. Next to the entrance was a small sandy hollow with scuff marks.Frostpaw padded on the soft marsh to the cave and curled up. "You coming?" she called softly, looking back at her friends.
