Wolfkit shot out of camp feeling a rush of adreniline. It wasn't as if he was going alone or sneaking out, no, Applehoney had offered to take them out. Still, it was probably one of the most exciting moments of his young, short life. Soon, he'd be an apprentice, and it wouldn't be such a big deal, but for now, he was enjoying the excitement and energy coursing through him.
Featherkit padded out a bit slower, pausing at the entrance before quickly streaking out. It somehow didn't feel right leaving the camp, but then again, she trusted Applehoney completely. When she got out, her whole few changed. She followed her brother to where the medicine cat waited as if in a daze, looking everywhere but her paws as she tried to take everything in. Her little nose was constantly twitching trying to get every smell.

A smile crossed her face. Good job. You were both able to get out with no one seeing you. How about we turn this trip into a type of game? Featherkit, I will ask you a question on what I am describing and then Wolfkit will tell us where to find it. Then I will show you both were it is. You can both help each other out. So, here is your first riddle. I am a small purple flower. When cats take me their fever will go down. What am I? Applehoney said with her golden tail curled neatly around her white paws keeping an eye to the sky for birds and her ears open for danger.

Both kit's eyes lit up, and they leaped to their paws, excited to play a game. They listened intently, and when she finished, Wolfkit glanced at his sister-she sure was smart-sure that she would know, but the look on her face was puzzled and frustrated.
"Feverfew...?" she whispered to her brother before shaking her head frowning. "No, that's not it..."
Small purple flowers... Small purple flowers... Suddenly, Wolfkit's tail went straight up, and his eyes lit up excitedly. "Hey, hey! Remember when we were playing in Applehoney's den that day, and she had these little purple flowers, and she let us smell them 'cause they smelled so sweet? You asked her what they were, and she said..."
"Lavender!" Featherkit squeaked excitedly, looking at the older cat with big hopeful eyes. "You're lavender!"

Applehoney closed her green eyes and dipped her head down to indicate the two kits had gotten it correct. She opened her eyes again and looked at Wolfkit. So, Wolfkit, if you want to be the leader of leaders you'll have to know where almost everything is in the clan. Do you know where lavender may grow? Hint: It grows where something is hard and it can change from burning hot to ice-cold. Riverclan loves to bathe on them. she asked knowing this question would be harder for the two kits to answer and the simple hint should help them.

Wolfkit and Featherkit shared a triumphant look, and she gave him an affectionate lick on the cheek for being so helpful. However, they were both stumped at where it grew and huddled together, heads close.
"Maybe its a log," Wolfkit mewed, brow furrowed.
"No, no, that doesn't sound right. Log's aren't that hot or that cold. Maybe its a rock of some kind?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.
"Rocks..?" Wolfkit mewed to Applehoney questioningly, head cocked and green eyes looking adorably puzzled.

Applehoney smiled bright. The two of them were very smart. That would make them go farther in their lives. That's right! Good job. she meowed before trotting off to a shaded pile of rocks where small purple flowers grew. She went and started to gather some lavender and placing them in a big oak leave to use as a carrier for the herbs. After enough herbs were collected, and her scent had been altered with lavender fragrance, she asked another riddle to Featherkit. Here we go, this time, I'm going to give you two riddles. I am a bright orange or yellow flower that like to be low to the ground. My petals and leaves are used to stop infection. What am I? I am a tall plant with bright yellow flowers. The beginning of my name is the last word of the other's name. I heal wounds. What am I? she asked and smiled sitting down and looking between the two kits waiting for their reply.

Wolfkit and Featherkit scrambled and bounded around the Medicine Cat's paws. The two kits both stuck their noses in the sweet smelling flower, inhaling the scent. Wolfkit pulled away, an odd look on his face, nose scrunched up cutely before letting out a small sneeze. His whole body jumped a little, and he shook his head before he and Featherkit bounded after Applehoney. "You smell nice now!' He purred.
Featherkit rather hoped she smelled like Applehoney did-she always smelled like the lovliest herbs. Her thoughts were just about running away with her, dreams of being a medicine cat running through her head, and so when Applehoney spoke, she jumped. Shaking her head, she narrowed her eyes, focusing determinedly. "Well, I know the first one's Marigold. I remember 'cause of the gold..." She struggled frantically for the name of the other. Goldfoot...? Goldtail...? Goldberries...? She glanced at Wolfkit, clearly panicked. He shrugged helplessly. "I-I don't know..." she admitted, ears flattening to her head as she crouched down ashamed.

Impressed again she smiled. She had finally stumped them on one. The answer to the second one is Goldenrod. Good try. And good job on the first one. Wolfkit, do you know where they grow? They grow in similar places, if I am thinking clearly. she said closing her eyes trying to envision where both plants grew. They were both a golden color and she messed up the locations easily. She turned her ears to the sky listening. The only sounds being able to be heard by here was the steady heart beats of all the prey hiding under the rocked and near the trees.

Wolfkit was beginning to grow bored and restless. It wasn't that he wasn't having fun, it was just too much work on his mind and not enough on his muscles. He wanted to hunt or fight or run or or or something. "I dunno. Maybe close to shrubs...?" he mewed questioningly before crouching down in preparation to leap on Featherkit like she was a mouse. The young she-cat narrowed her eyed and inched away from him.

She thought then figured that putting some of the kit's energy to good use. Wolfkit, would you like to try to get a beehive down so we can collect some honey? Or possibly dig up some roots that are deep in the ground? She asked thinking of a safe way for the kit to not get stung by the bees. Water would prevent the young kit from getting stung. He would need to know how to swim and hold his breath though. (Sorry it was so short)

"Yeah, yeah!" Wolfkit mewed, leaping up. "I'd do it way faster than any apprentice!" He couldn't help but boast a bit, it was simply in his nature. The handsome young tom grinned cheerfully.
"What can I do?" Featherkit mewed, green eyes bright with hope. She let out a terrified squeak, however, when a big, white tail seemed to come out of the bushes and flick her ear. "What was that!?"

Applehoney's green eyes glimpsed over and felt her fur rise on end. Put her head in-between the two-kit's heads and quietly hissed instructions into their ears. You two climb that tree and stay quite and hidden. Do you understand? Wolfkit, don't try anything. It would be dangerous if a cat from our clan saw you or if it is an intruder. She growled a little her pupils widened a little allowing her vision to intensify. She turned and sniffed the air trying to figure out who, or what was near by. He black tipped tail wagged slowly back and forth behind her paws spaced shoulder width apart. Her muscles rippling beneath her fur with every inhale.

Fear rising in their chests, Wolfkit and Featherkit darted to the tree. Wolfkit nudged his sister up, looking over his shoulder worriedly and protectively, willing to fight if necessary. Once she scrambled up, he quickly followed.
The boisterous laughter of two cats filled the air. "Calm down Applehoney! Its just us!" Snowstorm mewed, slowly stepping out. The enormous tom looked at her with bright green eyes, looking both amused and apologetic.
A smaller but more lithe and long-legged black and white tom stepped out, looking more guilty than his companion. "Sorry Applehoney. We just wanted to play with the kits," Swiftshadow mewed, dipping his head apologetically.

She relaxed then twisted to comb her fur quickly back into place and flick her tail telling the two kits it would be okay to come down from the tree. Well, good job. You two scared two kits and the clan's only medicine cat half way to StarClan. she said seriously with a tiny bit of her normal attitude. A sigh escaped her chest and her heart started to slow down off of the need to use that skill she learned from the previous medicine cat.

The two toms shared a sheepish look, but before they could say more, a blur of gray fur leaped onto Snowstorm's tail, wrestling it with the ferocity of a lion. Snowstorm was the coolest cat in the world in Wolfkit's eyes. "Rawr! I'll teach you to scare Applehoney!" He mewed, green eyes bright.
The huge tom laughed and hooked his paw around the small cat, crouching down and dragging him close to him. "It wasn't me! It was Swiftshadow!" He mewed with big innocent eyes. "Now, he's weak on his left leg. I'll distract him, and you get him!"
Swiftshadow played along, pretending to look off distractedly, as if he wasn't hearing a word they said. When Snowstorm called his name, he turned to stare at him, and when Wolfkit suddenly tackled him, he let out a yelp and fell over dramatically.
Featherkit, however, slowly slinked down the tree. The small she-cat quickly scurried over to Applehoney, pressing close to her nervously. That cat was huge and scary. She rested her head on the older cat's flank, letting her familiar scent soothe her.
